Plumb Bob
What it is
A plumb bob is a weight, pointed at the bottom, hung from a string. Gravity pulls it perfectly straight down, giving a true vertical line to check against.
Typical uses
It is used in building to check walls, columns and frames are upright, to transfer a point from a ceiling to the floor and in surveying and fence-post setting.

Care and handling
