A measuring wheel is a wheel on a handle that you roll along the ground; a counter shows the distance travelled. It measures long lengths faster than a tape.
Typical uses
It is used to measure fields, fence lines, roads, plots and sports grounds, and to estimate distances for fencing or irrigation runs.

Care and handling
Roll it steadily on firm ground and reset the counter before each measurement. Keep the wheel and axle free of mud and grass, and check the reading against a known distance now and then to be sure it is still accurate.
