Hammer
What it is
A hammer is a hand tool with a heavy metal head on a handle, used to drive nails, break material and tap parts into place. Head weight and handle length decide its balance.
Typical uses
It is used in carpentry, fencing, construction and repair work on farms, from nailing boards to driving stakes and knocking out old fittings.
When you enquire
Tell us what you mainly use it for so we can suggest a suitable head weight.
Care and handling
Check that the head is tight and the handle is sound before use, and replace a cracked handle. Strike squarely with the face, wear eye protection, and do not strike two hardened hammers or chisels against each other.
