Chisel

What it is

A chisel is a hand tool with a sharpened flat steel blade. It is pushed by hand or struck with a hammer to cut, carve or chip away wood, stone or masonry.

Typical uses

It is used in carpentry to cut joints and fit hinges, and in building to chip away mortar, brick or concrete, and to cut grooves.
