Compost Spreader
What it is
A compost spreader is a wheeled or hopper-style tool that holds compost or similar loose material and lets it out evenly as it is pushed or towed across the ground.
Typical uses
It is used on lawns, market gardens and orchards to lay a uniform layer of compost, soil conditioner or sand, which is quicker and more even than spreading by shovel.

Care and handling
Sieve or break up large lumps before loading so the outlet does not jam, and empty and wash the hopper after each job because damp compost corrodes metal. Grease the wheels now and then and store it dry.
